Hive Fleet Scorpio

Hive fleet Scorpio is a Tyranid Hive fleet that closely followed Hive fleet Behemoth to this galaxy. Scorpio is so named due to the high number of scorpion-like bio-constructs in it's swarms. Hive fleet Scorpio was first sighted by the Dark angels Space marines. The Dark angels were devastated by the Hive fleet and unable to stop it's advance. Since then Scorpio has destroyed nine (known) planets and attacked dozens of outposts.

Hive fleet Scorpio consists of hundreds of large Scorpion-cruiser-vessels and countless numbers of smaller ships. The Hive fleets acts with one primary fleet and dozens of support groups. These work to attack a system in waves while also infesting the surrounding space with smaller groups of bio-ships. Scorpio locates fresh planets with the use of a specialized scout fleet. This consists of high speed vessels as well as stealth cruisers and infiltration probes. The main Hive fleet hibernates as this fleet advances to find prey. Scorpio is unusual in several ways. It tends to create a web-like network of outposts and bases in a area of space it is moving through. These outposts work with the scout fleet to both locate prey and gather intelligence on any threat.

Hive fleet Scorpio is extremely vicious and will even attack other Hive fleets. Scorpio absorbs other Hive fleets by aiding weak or damaged splinter fleets as it attacks a planet. As the targeted fleet loses synapse creatures Scorpio provides replacements. This continues until resistance to the Tyranids is destroyed. Scorpio then uses these synapse creatures to seize control of the other Hive fleet. Hive fleet Scorpio seems to absorb but also produce new fleets. These are sent out after any smaller fleet is absorbed by Scorpio to reinforce Hive fleets Kraken and Leviathan.
