Since May 2006
A Genestealer Patriarch is lord, all-father and oracle to the cult.
The Patriarch of the Acheron cult is the single surviving Genestealer from the
space hulk that impacted the planet, now grown bloated and monstrous.
In this way, the Patriarch demonstrates the true threat of the Genestealer
— not its razored claws or extreme ferocity, but the ability of even a single Purestrain
to infest, enslave and force an entire planet to its knees.
Protected by his "family" in his desert enclaves, the Patriarch dreams his visions of the future and steers the cult. It is by his vision that the cult makes plans, by his will that they rise to action, and by his claws that they will conquer the planet.
The Magus serves as high priest and charismatic second-in-command in a Genestealer Cult, interpreting and voicing the visions of the Patriarch. A nearly human hybrid, the Magus is possessed of deadly psychic powers and inhuman intelligence.
While the Patriarch is a secretive figure who will only reveal himself for the final battle for control of Acheron, the Magus of the Acheron cult is a more public figure wanted by the Imperial authorities. However, every attempted arrest has ended in failure, as the Magus disappeared and escaped into the wastelands. Some rumors proclaim him a servant of the Emperor, while others proclaim him a disciple of ruinous powers. Only those blessed to be a member of the cult's family know the truth.

The Patriarch model is fairly hunched over, and smaller than you'd expect. To give it more height and show off more detail, I positioned it on a slight incline built of cork. I also added a Genestealer familiar on the base to serve as its attack squig. The Patriarch's stock claws are also surprisingly weedy, so I cut them off and replaced them with crab-style claws from the Chaos Possessed set.
The Magus model is unconverted, although it's one of the relatively rare variants. I picked this variant because of its superior details to the familiar, left-handed staff pose.

The Patriarch fit nicely as a Warboss. In my GT army, the Magus served as a Big Mek, with the kustom force field representing his psychic shielding of his minions. But I've also fielded it as a Weirdboy.
